How can you avoid the ETIAS?

You can avoid the European Travel Information and Authorisation System (ETIAS) if you become a resident of a Schengen country.

Will the ETIAS prevent you from entering Europe?

Please do not think the European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) will make your border process more accessible. It will streamline the rejection of the applications.

The objective of the ETIAS is to build in a second security control stage before you enter the EU, and there is an additional payment layer as well. There are serious misunderstandings about the ETIAS because its implementation will complicate border crossings and not simplify the already tricky processes.

Is the ETIAS an e-visa?

Not at all; it is a travel authorisation system. However:

  • If your country is a Schengen zone visa waiver, you must still fill the ETIAS.
  • If your country's citizens need a Schengen visa, you must go through the entire visa process and still fill out the ETIAS.

Can you enter the EU if you have a valid ETIAS?

Yes, of course. The same way as now without ETIAS. Suppose you are arriving from a developing country with items of baggage or your family. In that case, the treatment will be the same. They will search you, and you will have to prove that your objective is not immigration*.

*if not immigration is your goal marked on the visa application form and stated when submitting the ETIAS.

Is the ETIAS necessary?

According to the bureaucrats, it will connect the European databases, and according to all travellers, it will suit another bureaucratic layer.

Take a look at the official ETIAS site

"Non-EU nationals who do not need a visa to travel to the Schengen area will have to apply for a travel authorisation through the ETIAS system prior to their trip."

It means that potentially 1,4 billion people must fill the ETIAS if they want to visit the European Union only from the visa-exempted countries.

When will the ETIAS enter force?

The EU travel authorisation system will be operational from May 2023

How much does the ETIAS cost?

The official fee will be €7, slightly lower than the amount needed for the US travel authorisation, $21.

How can you avoid the ETIAS?

The most straightforward way to avoid the ETIAS is to become a resident of the European Union. As a resident, you can enter and leave Europe anytime. Undoubtedly, the most affordable and effective way to become a resident in the EU is to apply through an investors' or entrepreneurs' residency scheme. Usually, it may be enough to purchase a small flat or register a company and work. Discus Holdings Ltd's experts have provided legal services for investor immigrants for more than 25 years.
